Sustainability policy

At Riviera Maya Suites, we offer a relaxed atmosphere for our guests thanks to the garden areas surrounding our Condo Hotel. Our bungalows, in particular, showcase local architecture with their palapa roofs.

We are a hotel aware of the environmental, social, and economic importance of sustainability; therefore, we are committed to and strive to be an example in adhering to the principles of sustainable development. Based on this, we implement and maintain a Sustainability Management System with the help of ongoing staff training and in accordance with the requirements established in the voluntary sustainability standard in Mexico: NMX-AA-133-SCFI-2013, assuming a commitment to continuous improvement.

Sustainability policy objectives

Disseminate and raise awareness among all interested parties about the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, ECPAT (www.ecpat.org) (Sectur Code of Conduct: http://www.ccn.sectur.gob.mx/ )

We do not discriminate; being different is not a problem, the problem is being treated differently. (LEEGEPA, 2007 Chapter III)

To disseminate information and raise awareness among all interested parties regarding respect for wild flora and fauna and their illegal trafficking. (NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010)

To promote the destination's cultural heritage, raising awareness among all interested parties about respectful behavior during their visit and about its illegal trafficking. (FEDERAL LAW FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF INDIGENOUS AND AFRO-MEXICAN PEOPLES AND COMMUNITIES)

Reduce waste generation by promoting comprehensive waste management that aims to decrease generation, enhance reuse, recycling and valorization.

Promote sustainable practices among our clients and employees to reduce the consumption of water and energy resources.

Promote social and economic growth by hiring local staff, prioritizing purchases from local suppliers, and supporting different social groups.

10 recommendations for sustainable tourism

  1. When planning your trip, choose suppliers that offer guarantees of quality and respect for human rights and the environment.
  2. Use natural resources, such as water and energy, sparingly. Remember that they are scarce resources.
  3. Try to minimize the amount of waste you generate. It's a source of pollution.
  4. When you need to dispose of waste, do it in the cleanest way possible for your destination.
  5. In a natural setting, make sure that the only trace you leave behind is the footprint of your shoes.
  6. If you visit sensitive ecosystems, such as coral reefs or rainforests, find out how to do so in order to cause the least possible impact and not degrade them.
  7. When buying gifts and souvenirs, look for products that reflect the local culture. This supports the economy of the communities you visit and promotes cultural diversity.
  8. Do not purchase flora and fauna protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, or products derived from such species. It is a crime and contributes to their extinction.
  9. At your destination, enjoy learning about the culture, customs, cuisine, and traditions of the local people. Respect them and connect with them; they have much to share.
  10. Try to contribute with your presence to the development of responsible and sustainable tourism, building a healthier and more supportive planet with your trip.

"By following these ten recommendations, tourists will contribute to preserving the Earth's biological wealth and improving development opportunities for many people."
